Bobinen

Bobinen is Gårda’s oldest working quarters, with small businesses operating here starting in the mid 1700s. It was named after a bobbin factory, which saw a thriving trade until it went up in literal flames in 1880. But the spirit of thread and bobbin endured: this block continued to be home to a number of textile businesses, until the industry fell into a crisis after World War II. It would never fully recover.
